Mapping
Tips
Map data layers higher
to the top of the layer list are displayed OVER layers lower in
the list. This means that sometimes higher layers will obscure lower
layers.
NOTE:
This mapper uses "Automatic
Refresh" meaning that you do not have
to click the "Refresh Map" button at the bottom
of the legend after turning layers on and off. If you want to change
many layers at once, however, it is more efficient to uncheck Auto
Refresh, make changes, then click Refresh Map.
For best overall performance, do not leave layers
on unnecessarily.
If
the feature you want does not appear,
zoom in more- some map layers are only visible close-up (i.e.
redevelopment parcels, points of interest, streets). This
symbol
means you aren't at the correct zoom level.
Remember- you
can only perform an action (i.e. select, buffer,
hyperlink) on the active theme
(click the radio button to
make theme active). Note also that the layer must be visible (checked)
to perform an action.
To
bring tabular data(from
the lower viewer pane) into a spreadsheet for analysis on
your own computer (or printing),
swipe-select all of the fields, open a spreadsheet program such
as Excel, then Paste Special(as
HTML). Save the spreadsheet.
When you buffer
or measure, make sure that your map
unitsare set correctly.
Have
patience! Performance can be slow, especially
on a modem.
