| The introduction of
the Providence Urban Land Reform Initiative is due to contributions
of data, time, thoughtfulness and know-how by several individuals,
organizations, and departments. Likewise the sustainability, timeliness
and enhancement of the Providence Land Information System will depend
not only on evidence of its utility, but also upon a continued commitment
from municipal and community partners.
City of Providence –
As the primary data provider for the initiative, the City’s
willingness and ability to supply data on a regular basis is key
to the success of the information system. The continued implementation
of Govern – Providence’s land data management system
– will greatly benefit the ease with which data can be transferred
and conformed, while expanding the types of data available.
Community Partners –
As witnesses to the day-to-day happenings in Providence’s
neighborhoods, community organizations are the best reporters of
changing conditions, i.e. what lots are falling into severe neglect
or otherwise detracting from neighbors’ quality of life, as
well as what unutilized properties are being returned to a productive
use.
Partners in the Urban Land Reform Initiative have access to the
Providence Land Information System. Eligibility
is restricted to governmental agencies and established community
development organizations. If your
organization would like to become a partner in this effort, please
contact Jim Lucht at The
Providence Plan.
